Property Taxes
Each October, annual property tax statements are mailed to you or your mortgage company by Denton County, not by the City of Pilot Point. The City has contracted with the Denton County Tax Office to handle property tax billing and collections for all City of Pilot Point property owners in Denton, Cooke and Grayson counties.
Upon receipt of your tax statement three convenient payment options are available to you:
Pay by mail: Make checks payable to Michelle French, Denton County Tax Assessor-Collector and mail to 1505 E McKinney Street, Denton, Texas 76209-4525.
Pay Online: You'll need your account number. Visa and MasterCard credit cards and debit cards and Discover credit cards are accepted.
Pay in person at any Denton County Tax Office location. The closest office to Pilot Point is located at 1400 FM 424 Cross Roads, TX 76227-7284. Hours of operation are Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Payment by cash, check, or credit cards is accepted.

City's Tax Information
The Pilot Point City Council sets the property tax rate along with the budget in September. The tax rate is comprised of two elements; maintenance/operation and debt. The 2022 City Tax Rate is 0.636260 per $100 of valuation. (O&M - 0.442828, I&S - 0.193432)
Property Tax Appraisals
The Central Appraisal Districts (Denton Central Appraisal District, Cooke Central Appraisal District, and Grayson Central Appraisal District) determines the value of all taxable property within the City of Pilot Point on January 1st of each year. The appraisal district must repeat its appraisal process for property at least once every three years.
Exemptions
The appraisal districts approve all exemptions according to Texas Property Tax Code. Exemption forms must be requested through the appraisal district. Some exemptions must be filed each year while others are one time only. Please contact the appropriate appraisal district if you have a question or exemptions.
